Presented by District 67 APT Parent Awareness
Speakers: Carol Weisman, author of "Raising Charitable Children" and Nini Lustig, Volunteer Coordinator for Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Volunteer Center.
For parents of children in grades K - 8 at Deerpath Middle School in the Beecher & Bagget Rooms.
As we approach the holiday season, how many times have we said to ourselves our children have too many things and don't appreciate any of it? We all enjoy doing things for our children -- buying them something special, taking them on a fun outing, throwing a great birthday party. But at the same time, many of us fear that without some balance, our children will grow up thinking only of themselves. This observation is what led Carol Weisman, MSW, CSP, MOM, to write "Raising Charitable Children". Come hear Carol's creative ideas on how to incorporate philanthropy and volunteering into your family's life. Whether you're looking to start a new family tradition or to just make the holidays extra special this year, Carol will provide you with the tips and tools you need for sharing the gifts of generosity, selflessness and compassion with children of all ages. Then Nini Lustig of the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Volunteer Center will share some local volunteer opportunities for families this holiday season. The first 50 people who attend this program will receive a holiday gift from District 67 -- a free copy of "Raising Charitable Children".
