Family Campfire: Animals of the Night
Create a paper lantern decorated with nocturnal animal silhouettes to light the way into the night. The lantern-lit hike will lead to a fire, s'mores and animal stories. This program will be held at the Lockhart Family Nature Center and is suggested for families.
Members $15 per family of three, $5 each additional person
Non-members $25 per family of three, $8 each additional person

Symphony's Golden Anniversary Gala

The 50th Anniversary Benefit Committee of the Lake Forest Symphony has announced the Symphony's Golden Anniversary Gala. Internationally acclaimed violinist, Rachel Barton Pine is the honorary chair. Three local residents will also be honored for their long-lasting and deep commitment to the Lake Forest Symphony: Anne Brown, Granger Cook Jr. and Howard A. Stotler. The black-tie optional event will be held at the Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest and include cocktails, dinner, silent auction, a performance by Rachel Barton Pine followed by dancing to the music of the Paul Ciminello orchestra. This year's benefit is sponsored by The Audi Exchange of Highland Park.
Tickets to the benefit are $200 per person and reservations are limited. Raffle tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100. Proceeds of the annual benefit support Lake Forest Symphony's classical concert series and community outreach programming as well as the Symphony's Music School. Director of Positive Coaching Alliance based at Stanford University will provide parents a fresh perspective to help your children get the most out of sports ... on and off the field, including how to enhance player performance, teach valuable life lessons while building character and self esteem, and enable richer parent-child conversations. Learn the principles that more than 1,000 schools and youth sports organizations nationwide (including AYSO, Lake Forest and Lake Bluff Parks & Recreation Departments, Lake Forest Academy, and Lake Forest High School) are using to benefit the youth they serve.

Celtic Ceile Celebration with Switchback

A special evening of music, storytelling, and Irish step dancing with optional catered Irish supper. The Irish word Ceile originally referred to a gathering of neighbours to have an enjoyable time dancing, singing and storytelling. Switchback is the duo of Brian FitzGerald (acoustic guitar, mandolin, vocals) and Martin McCormack (acoustic guitars, bass, vocals) that has managed to fuse Americana, bluegrass and Irish folk music into something entirely unique.
Before the concert, there will be a catered Irish supper beginning at 6 p.m. with the performance to follow at 8 p.m.

After a short indoor presentation on the natural history of our native trees, major tree pests and tips on landscape tree care, Restoration Ecologist Ryan London will lead you into the heart of McCormick Ravine's forest. Hone your identification skills and search for different native tree species. This class is part of the Adult Natural History Series and will be held at the Lockhart Family Nature Center. Discounted registration applies if you participate in the entire series.

She has establisehd Manners, Please, providiing social skills for every occasion. Ms. O'Brien has successfully taught classes in etiquette at many park districts, libraries, schools and organizations in Chicago and the North Shore area. Her motto is "Let's put civility back on the table".
After attending the Manners, Please workshop and Dining Tutorial you will know the answers to these and many more questions. Your dining experience from now on will make you feel confident at dinners at home and away. The City of Lake Forest's Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Western Avenue at the Depot building west of the railroad tracks. Caroling and music by Lake Forest High School choristers begins at 4:45 p.m. The lights are set aglow at 5:15 p.m. Western Avenue, between Deerpath and Westminster, will be closed to traffic from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. For children and the young-at-heart, there will be a special visit by Santa Claus along with hot chocolate, donuts and cider.
